European Centre for Intercultural Dialogue

The programme of the European Centre for Intercultural Dialogue is held in cooperation with the actors from the academic community and the civil society. The work will include the synergies of various institutions establish a consolidated position from the European perspective.

The objectives are: dissemination of the research results and information regarding the intercultural dialogue in the European Union; carrying out the following activities: research, information and communication concerning the intercultural dialogue in the European Union for web pages, for the electronic scientific journal and the newsletters; regularly update of the site with research materials; the synthesis of the European intercultural dialogue practices and intercultural outline; identification of some recommendations in the field of policy makers and civil society actors with the aim of improving the environment of the intercultural dialogue within the country and in the region; socialization of the research results by means of mechanisms based on information and communication technologies.

The programmatic imperatives focus on the initiative to inform about the intercultural dialogue in the European Union; to analyze and understand correctly the essence of intercultural dialogue in the European Union; to emphasize the current intercultural dialogue approaches which EU faces in the context of increasing its role worldwide; to strengthen the mechanisms for research, information and communication concerning the studies on intercultural dialogue in the European Union through the cooperation of the academic community within the country and in the region; to identify and explore the policies for intercultural dialogue and the related thematic implications; to emphasize the importance of the European intercultural dialogue of the neighboring countries that strive to improve the intercultural dialogue policies; to facilitate the multilateral cooperation with the European Union member states.

The key actions involve the organization of some information and research activities focused on the intercultural dialogue in the European Union; dissemination of the scientific results, case-studies within the thematic section of the site; publication of the fundamental and applied research results in the electronic journal; the in-depth analysis of the selected case-studies and their dissemination by means of information and communication technologies; development of some newsletters on the center results, events with intercultural approach and of multi-, trans- and interdisciplinary implications; the multilateral cooperation and active involvement of the academic community (including students) and civil society actors from the country and the region; the organization of some dissemination events such as seminars, meetings, press releases, etc.; the conveyance of the outputs, results and articles related to the intercultural dialogue in the European Union.

Accomplishment of information and research activities is anchored in the social reality and is built on the idea of providing multi-, cross-cultural connections and multi-, multilingualism, etc. implications of intercultural action, centered on the following:

  • Intercultural phenomenon;
  • International relations in the intercultural context;
  • Cultural and economic inter-referentiality;
  • Literature in the intercultural communication;
  • Linguistics and the intercultural discourse;
  • Intercultural action in the academic environment;
  • Intercultural didactics etc.

The exchange of experience, articles elaboration and their publication focus on interreferentiality:

  • Interculturalism, transculturalism and otherness;
  • Ipseity in the context of cultural differences;
  • Intercultural stereotypes;Pragmatics of intercultural interaction;
  • Interculturalism and the migration phenomenon;
  • The potentiality of intercultural dialogue with the perspective of EU proximity etc.
