Call for Papers: EU Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine: through Cooperation towards Integration

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Jean Monnet project team we would like to invite you to International Conference «EU Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine: through Cooperation towards Integration». The event is organised with the support of Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia, on April 26-27, 2017.

Association Agreements with Eastern Partnership countries are international agreements that the European Union concludes with the aim of setting up an all-embracing framework to conduct its bilateral relations. Normally these agreements comprise four general chapters: Common Foreign and Security Policy; Justice and Home Affairs; Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area; and a fourth chapter covering a range of issues including the environment, science, transportation, and education. Association Agreements differ in their exact content and finality depending on each partner country.

The conference aims to reunite professionals in order to discuss and reflect not only about the different aspects of concluded Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine so far, but also the state of affairs with other Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus. These instruments follow the principles of differentiation and flexibility. Further on, what do the Association Agreements strive at? What is next after signing the Association Agreements? Is the general goal to integrate Eastern Partnership countries in the larger family of the European Union or to have functional bilateral relations? The conference resides in a broad scope and specific topics of interest, but it is not limited to them.

Authors are invited to submit original and innovative papers to the conference. We seek high-quality submissions that promote the knowledge and understanding of EU Association Agreements in the Eastern Partnership with an emphasis on practical perspectives. We encourage papers that break new grounds, present insightful results based on new and / or alternative visions.
